Hakkinen revels in return to top spot.

Almost two years to the day when he last stood on top of a podium, Mika Hakkinen finally recorded his long awaited second DTM win after a comprehensive display during the third round of the season at Lausitz.

His first points of the season also, Hakkinen evoked memories of that first DTM win at Spa-Francorchamps by taking the lead of the race early on and never succeeding the position over the course of the 48 laps, despite a pair of safety car periods threatening to give his rivals a chance.

Also scoring the first win for the 2007-specification C-Class, Hakkinen was delighted to return to the winner's circle and in such a resounding way.

“I am feeling great. It was a very interesting weekend. The performance of my new C-Class was fantastic. Being in the middle of the podium surrounded by my team mates is wonderful.”
