Adam Carroll is eager to break his points duck on home ground as the DTM heads to British shores for the fourth round of the championship at Brands Hatch.
Embarking on his maiden season in the series, Carroll has come close to scoring his first points on several occasions, finishing ninth at Oschersleben, while a safety car mix-up at Lausitz also means he goes to the Kent circuit without a marker to his name.
Nonetheless, the Northern Irishman has belied the age of his 2005-spec Futurecom Audi A4 by regularly battling with newer machinery in qualifying especially and with the Ingolstadt marque having had the upper hand in last year's visit to Brands Hatch, he is confident of a top eight finish for the first time.
“I have not driven my Audi at Brands previously,” the GP2 refugee said. “Tom Kristensen was on pole for Audi in last year's corresponding Brands race with six Audis in the top-10. In the race, Audi's Mattias Ekström won with five Audis finishing in the top-10.
“My ultimate aim is to try and get points for the team. In qualifying I'd like to get into the third and final session which essentially means a place on the first four rows. The higher up the grid I can start will give me the best possible opportunity in the race.
“But of course driving a 2005-spec car means that it's likely the latest 2007 & last year's spec Audi A4DTMs could have the edge but everyone in the crowd can rest assured I'll be giving it my best shot.”
