Luhr leads Audi dominated practice.

Lucas Luhr led an Audi dominated free practice for the fourth round of the DTM at Brands Hatch, the German manufacturer filling out the top six positions ahead of qualifying.

An hour long session that was only ever headed by Audi, a number of drivers enjoyed stints at the head of the field, with Mattias Ekstrom and Timo Scheider having their names at the top of the timesheets for the majority of the session.

However, a flurry of quick times in the latter stages saw Markus Winkelhock and Alex Premat replace their counterparts, before Luhr pumped in a lap of 42.600secs to edge Premat into second place.

It is an unusual position for Luhr to be in having struggled to get to grips with the DTM over the first three rounds, but having shown well in practice yesterday, the former sportscar ace could well prove qualifying's surprise package.

For the moment though, any one of Audi's armada could challenge for pole position with Luhr leading Premat, Ekstrom, Winkelhock, Scheider and Christian Abt in the top six positions, while Mike Rockenfeller and Martin Tomczyk in eighth and tenth ensured the advantage is most certainly with the Ingolstadt manufacturer.

Of Mercedes' challenge, reigning champion Bernd Schneider led the way, with team-mate Mika Hakkinen joining him as the only other C-Class to feature inside the top ten in ninth.

Elsewhere, the Brits Adam Carroll, Paul di Resta, Gary Paffett, Susie Stoddart and Jamie Green finished the session 12th, 14th, 15th, 16th and 20th respectively, the latter having only completed four laps.
