Tom Kristensen made a quiet return to the DTM cockpit after qualifying for the fourth round of the series at Brands Hatch, the Dane pumping in his first laps since his massive smash at Hockenheim.
Kristensen has been on the sidelines since April after colliding with Alex Premat at the season opener, with concerns since raised as to whether or not he will be able to compete for a record-breaking eighth Le Mans title next weekend.
A decision is due Monday but Kristensen showed he is reaching full fitness again by getting up to speed quickly on the Kent circuit driving the A4 'taxi' to finish the laps he failed to complete when he crashed out of last year's race in the latter stages.
“It is nice to be back,” he said. “The team thought it I should complete the laps I didn't finish last year as a joke and my engineer gave me those laps and I was able to do even more.
"It was nice to be back in the car again and it gives me hope to be back sooner than I would have expected a few weeks ago.”
