Bernd Schneider found himself on top of the timesheets for the first time this weekend in warm-up ahead of the fourth round of the DTM at Brands Hatch as the drivers gear themselves up for what promises to be a closely matched race.
Hitting the front of the half hour session early on, Schneider's 43.233secs lap was enough to stay fastest to the chequered flag, although most of the drivers used the time to hone their race set-up.
Even so, honours were relatively even between Mercedes and Audi down the field with Martin Tomczyk and Lucas Luhr upholding the latter in second and third positions.
Pole sitter Mika Hakkinen was fourth fastest, ahead of Mike Rockenfeller and Mattias Ekstrom, while Gary Paffett, Bruno Spengler, Jamie Green and Alex Premat rounded out the top ten in a session that saw the whole field separated by just seven tenths.
However, not all the drivers were able to record a lap after Paul di Resta out-braked himself at Druids without having set a time, while Christian Abt and Mathias Lauda also experienced off track moments.
