Bruno Spengler is hoping an even weight distribution between Mercedes and Audi in the final two rounds of the DTM season will help him haul his way back into the title reckoning after falling further back at the Nurburgring.

Although Spengler finished in second position, it was behind Martin Tomczyk and only just ahead of Mattias Ekstrom in the Abt Sportsline Audis. However, Audi's difficult start to the season meant they were running less ballast than Mercedes, something that will change at the next round.

It means the best of the Mercedes drivers head into the final two rounds at Barcelona and Hockenheim ten points behind championship leader Ekstrom with only 20 points up for grabs.

Indeed, while the Canadian driver insists that anything his possible in his attempts to overhaul the Audis up ahead, but he is under no illusions that it will be a tough task.

"I am now ten points behind leader Ekstr?m and in the next race in Barcelona, we will have the same weight as the Audis, so everything is possible. I will give it my all until the season finale in Hockenheim."

"In the beginning [of the race] I got stuck behind Kristensen and lost some time, but after I had passed him I had a fine race and I am happy with second place. I thank my team; they gave me a great car and had the perfect strategy so that I was able to race without traffic most of the time.
