New Audi weapon ready for launch.

Audi Sport engineers and technicians have been working feverishly behind closed doors for twelve months to make sure that the DTM race version of the new Audi A4 is ready for the coming season, but Mattias Ekstrom is already excited about what he can expect this year.

Although the fruits of all the labour won't be shown to the public until next Tuesday [4 March], when defending DTM champion Ekström and head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich unveil the car at the Geneva Motor Show, the Swede has already had a taste of what is to come having tested the A4 intensively.

"The new Audi A4 DTM looks fantastic and feels good on the race track," he revealed, "I can hardly wait for the first race at Hockenheim on 13 April."

Immediately after the world premiere, the new DTM machine, which bears the project name 'R14' internally at Audi Sport, will be taken back to Ingolstadt, where it will be prepared for the following week's official DTM test at Mugello in Italy, where it will be compared to the competition from Mercedes for the first time.
