With demand for tickets increasing, the DTM has announced that it will erect additional seating for the 2008 season finale at Hockenheim.
More than 65,000 seats have already been sold for the race, which will see Audi ace Timo Scheider go head-to-head with Mercedes rival Paul di Resta to decide the title race.
The two are the only drivers still in contention for the crown going into the final weekend of the season, with Scheider currently leading his Scottish rival by just two points.
“We want to make sure that the biggest possible number of spectators will have the chance of witnessing the race live on site,” Hans-Werner Aufrecht, chairman of DTM rights holder and promoter ITR e.V said. “Therefore, we opted for erecting an additional stand. That's what we owe our loyal supporters. The DTM round at Hockenheim will attract more visitors than this year's Formula 1 race.
“We are really proud of this fact proving that the DTM concept – to provide top-class motor racing combined with a good entertainment programme at fair ticket prices – is appreciated even in economically difficult times.”
