F1's uneasy truce between hitherto warring factions the FIA and the Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) has again been plunged into doubt after the latter is understood to have 'walked out' of a meeting between the two sides.

The reunion had been convened to discuss cost-cutting measures between the sport's governing body and the 13 successful 2010 world championship entrants, but according to The Associated Press there was only more cause for conflict.

This time the source of dispute centred upon the minimum weight limit for cars and the terms of a legally-binding contract designed to bring expenditure back down to the level of the early 1990s, as agreed by the peace deal that seemingly staved off the threat of a manufacturer-spearheaded breakaway series last month.

'The eight FOTA teams were invited to attend the meeting to discuss their further proposals for 2010,' read an official FIA statement. 'Unfortunately, no discussion was possible because FOTA walked out of the meeting.'

FOTA is composed of Ferrari, McLaren-Mercedes, BMW-Sauber, Renault, Toyota, Red Bull Racing, Scuderia Toro Rosso and current world championship leaders Brawn GP. Williams and Force India remain suspended for having elected to jump ship and sign up unconditionally for next season, against the general FOTA standpoint.
