Renault F1 has issued a statement revealing the new management structure at the Enstone-based outfit in the wake of the departure of the disgraced Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds from the respective positions of managing director and executive director of engineering.

The French manufacturer has confirmed that it intends to remain in Formula 1 – despite some paddock cynics having predicted that the FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) investigation into 'Singapore-gate' would be the final necessary trigger to drive it out of the exit door – and a number of names have been linked with filling the void left by Briatore in the long-term.

Amongst them, most prominent to feature have been Prodrive chairman David Richards, former four-time world champion Alain Prost, Frédéric Vasseur – team boss of GP2 Series front-runners ART Grand Prix – erstwhile BAR-Honda team principal Craig Pollock and Citroën WRC chief Olivier Quesnel. However, for the interim period at least, it appears that Renault has elected to promote from within.

'Following the unfortunate recent events, the Renault F1 Team has reacted swiftly by implementing a new temporary management team structure, which will be in place from today until the end of the 2009 season,' read a team statement. 'The re-organisation is as follows:

'Bob Bell, currently technical director, takes on the duty of team principal and chief technical officer. Jean-François Caubet, currently director of marketing and communications, takes the role of managing director. They will both report to Bernard Rey, President of the Renault F1 Team.

'Bob Bell will attend all the remaining races of the season, and will be the team's spokesperson on all sporting and technical matters. The Renault F1 Team is now ready to concentrate on the future, and wishes to stress that no further comments or statements will be issued relating to the events of Singapore, 2008.'
