A1GP star Christian Vietoris has been given the opportunity to fulfil a lifelong dream in the build-up to the 2007 Formula BMW World Final at Valencia – by getting behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car for the first time.

The young German – Formula BMW ADAC Champion last year – triumphed in the prestigious event at the end of the 2006 season, and his return to the Spanish circuit not only brought back happy memories, it also allowed him to sample horsepower of an altogether more impressive variety than anything he has been used to so far in his fledgling single-seater career.

“That was an amazing experience!” enthused the 18-year-old after stepping out of the BMW-Sauber at the end of his 62 laps around the 'Circuit de la Comunitat' – and wasting little time in making his mark. “I have spent many years working towards the chance to drive a Formula 1 car.

“The g-forces, braking effect and speed are simply phenomenal! This car is great fun to drive, and it has certainly given me a more accurate impression of the unbelievable power and aerodynamics that are at work in Formula 1. Today's drive has made me even more determined to make it into the elite motorsport class.”

Thirty-five drivers from 19 different countries will battle it out over the course of the weekend in a bid to follow in Vietoris' wheeltracks and be crowned Formula BMW World Champion, with a prize Formula 1 drive once more on offer for the eventual winner.
