Michael Schumacher has admitted that his return to the Race of Champions at Wembley Stadium this weekend is all about fun – although he will still be racing to win in the end of season event.

The seven-time Formula 1 champion, who contested the event back in 2004 at the Stade de France in Paris, will partner rising star Sebastian Vettel in the German line-up for the event, with the duo going up against the USA in the quarter-final of the Nations Cup and Schumacher taking on Henning Solberg in the opening round of the Race of Champions itself later in the day.

“All of these guys are good in their way,” he said. “I don't know Henning too much to judge but I'll take it as it comes.

“The Solution F is a bit big for this track I think, but it's the same for everyone. I prefer the buggie; it's like a go kart in the rain! There is absolutely no grip!

“I've been here two years ago at the event in Paris and it has been fun. My team-mate Sebastian called me some months ago to ask how to train, what he had to do. I told him to come here to enjoy and have fun. It's natural to want to win but if not, then OK.”

Solberg himself didn't appear to be phased at drawing Schumacher in the opening round, admitting that he was looking forward to having some fun in his first outing in the event.

“To be drawn against Michael is fantastic,” he said. “To meet the world champion is great and I'm really looking forward to it.

“There is a lot of inter-brother rivalry at home with me and Petter but here we're focused on the ROC Nations Cup. It will be very hard but let's see where we will end. We will go for maximum attack.”
