Toyota next to unveil challenger

Formula One's two 'big guns' may have hogged centre stage so far this season - much as they did for the whole of 2007 - but one of the category's lesser lights gets the chance to star today [Thursday] as Toyota takes the wraps of its 2008 contender.

For a long time, the first expected launch of the 2008 campaign, the Cologne team found itself usurped by Ferrari and McLaren, which revealed their new machines on Sunday and Monday respectively, but should still be the focus of attention as yet another year rolls in with much expected of perhaps the highest-spending team on the grid.

As has been well documented, Toyota has poured billions into F1 with very little reward, and heads into 2008 looking to justify the level of spending lest it wear away further at the patience of those holding the pursestrings back in Japan.

The TF108 will be unveiled in Germany this morning, with the new driver pairing of veteran Jarno Trulli and GP2 champion Timo Glock getting their first real glimpse at the car which will carry their hopes - and those of Toyota worldwide - through the coming campaign.

Stay tuned for news as it happens from Cologne.....
