Did Hamilton call F1 'boring'? Listen here

In the wake of a processional European Grand Prix in Valencia in which there were barely any passing manoeuvres throughout, Formula 1 World Championship leader Lewis Hamilton claimed the sport can become 'boring' and 'a bit dull' [see separate story – click here].

Since then, the McLaren-Mercedes star – controversially stripped of his breathtaking victory in a thrilling Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps at the weekend – has denied making the claims, with Autosport quoting the 23-year-old as having insisted: “I don't remember saying it was boring.”

“I remember watching Formula 1 before I got here and sometimes it's boring to watch,” he then countered. “You just fall asleep! Hopefully next year will be more exciting.”

F1 has been pretty tedious for a long time now. Great to hear a current driver say it.
