Lewis Hamilton's overtaking move on Kimi Raikkonen to seize the lead of the 2008 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps was the best of the season, fans have decided.

The McLaren-Mercedes star overwhelmingly triumphed in a Crash.net poll to find out what was the best passing manoeuvre of the campaign, prevailing by a margin of almost 200 votes.

Ironically, it was the very same move – an audacious pass into the Bus-Stop chicane at the end of the lap as the rain began to fall in the Ardennes in the closing stages of the race – that saw Hamilton controversially penalised and stripped of his winner's trophy in the stewards' room afterwards.

Also popular was Felipe Massa's bold move all the way around the outside of Hamilton into the first corner of the Hungarian Grand Prix – the Brazilian confounding his critics who had contended that he did not possess the necessary aggression to pull off such a feat, as well as his British rival's prior boast that he had never been and would never be overtaken around the outside – and BMW-Sauber ace Nick Heidfeld's brilliant brace of double passes in torrential conditions in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
