marc is right. there seems little prospect of banks pouring millions down the drain for no return. i mean, who has changed their deposits to ING, Credit Suisse, Santander, RBS, etc, as a result of them sponsoring a F1 team. also calls into question CVC's interest in the brand. this may be in dire straits as well and they may wish to bail out.

Assuming the banks are in a lot of trouble still F1 id the only platform where your name is exposed to millions that count in the world. It will be difficult for any executive to say get out without considering the exposure he will buy with the same bucks and the target audience. All said when the banks stop the creative accounting to show profits or losses as they wish we will have the true picture of the financial disasters we are told we are facing by the politicians. Without getting political when these guys and ladies told us the truth?

The banks are needed. But now they know there is no money to be made. So when the teams look for money do you think they are going to get it?

Yes most of the banks will be gone from F1 sponsorship but some good will come out of it as most of the trouble in the world is of their own doing. When cigarettes sponsorships were leaving F1 I was one that believed that F1 IS FINNISHED and it was not so F1 will still be there.
