And since any changes the teams want to make takes a unanimous decision these days, all Bernie would have to do if a particular proposal by the other teams didn't suit him would be to go to Fry and Brawn and say: "Vote against this, or you will find your well will dry out very quickly"

Bernie never does things or lends people money for free(hell he even scrapped the popular Canadian GP eventhough they simply couldn't meet his wage demands but still tried to give him has much money as they could possibly offer him), EVERYTHING HE DOES has an agenda !!!!!!!!!!

F1 » Ecclestone: Fry, Brawn refused help over Honda F1

Bernie Ecclestone has revealed that he offered Honda F1 a £100 million bail-out - but that he was turned down by Nick Fry and Ross Brawn, who 'wanted to do things on their own'.

It seems now that Honda F1 is doomed, it didn't stand a great deal of hope with Fry in charge, many were sceptical of his involvement. Then Brawn took over as the main man in going forward, the various bidders fell out for various reasons. Bernie stepped in to protect his own interest in F1 and that was rejected for some bizarre reason. The last hope they had was Virgin and that now looks to be going the same way as the others, it seems Honda f1 and the 750-800 jobs in Brackley will be lost forever. RIP HONDA F1.

a bit odd,may be they can wait & see how F1 goes,or wait for this opportunity to be outright owners

This is undoubtedly coz of HONDA F1's own wrong doing! They bring the save earth campaign and doom themselves doing it.. pretty funni init! Its kinda lame how they went abt the super aguri buyout too! and Now cause of their immaculate thinking and execution skills ...they are landing up in the same boat as their aguri brothers! STupid eh.. no other word explain em!

Does nobody around here realise why turning down Bernie's "generous" offer was probably the smartest thing that they could have done(providing they are confident they can get sponsoring from someone else)?
OK let me spell it out for you guys. The the 4 magical letters: F.O.T.A ! Simply as! The last thing any team(or the rest of the teams for that matter) would wan't is for one of them to be in Bernie's pocket. And with Bernie giving them money, he would practically own the team, and therefore have a position of real influence over the other teams in FOTA continued.......

If Fry and Brawn get 17.5% each then that leaves 65% owned by Bernie!!
And it would be Bernie who would call the shots in the team and would allow him in on the inter-team discussions (FOTA) and as he is in charge of the rights (FOA) it could be a conflict of interest.

this would have been a serious conflict of interest, and very unethical. if he wanted to save a team, then why did he not help SA. it would have cost him a lot less. i also doubt that he would have used his own money. he goes on to say that the deadline for engine supply is the end of the month, whereas haug has said that it is tomorrow , 23rd feb. have the team actually paid for their entry to 2009 series? there are so many conflicting stories, that we can no longer believe ANYTHING that is said about the team. so we must just wait until melbourne
