F1 » Massa: Shorter grands prix key to F1 excitement

I think the races are too short already to be called "grands prix", especially with all the hype and buildup. The monaco race last year was nearly 2 hours and that was much better.

DTM races are shorter than F1 and always feel disapointing and unsatisfying, a bit like "is that it?, is it over? all that travelling/practice/setup just for that?

Nothing happens in the last 15 laps? Does he think those last 15 laps in Brazil were just a procession where nothing happened.

Don't you mean nothing happens in the middle 15?

Hungary last 5 laps... Belgium last 10 laps... Brazil last 10 laps... Singapore last 10 laps...

Take away the last 15 laps?..........And you will still have a last 15 laps.

I 'love' Massa, but c'mon. So if the races are shorter does that mean the paying fans will get to pay less to watch? bahahaha, ya ya I know Less 'entertainment' but we'll be paying the same, or no doubt more money for the pleasure

Make it a 2 part race. Then no need for pit stops where races are won or lost.

cole, i agree with you. the races are currently too short to be called GRAND prix. they should be a test of endurance, such as when the series started. i seem to remember that 3 hours used to be the time limit. however, to make the championship more interesting, why not shorten the race, but have TWO on the day. no pit stops allowed for tyres or fuel, reverse grid for the second race, (or at least for the first eight finishers) therefore there would be more points on offer and there might be a better mix of point scorers

i agree that often races feel too short now, bring back the whole two hours.

so replace 'boring' 15 laps with a more boring hour and half of driving. he didnt think this through did he!

if he was a real driver/pilot and cared about excitement.. he would ask for normal gearing like in road cars than paddle shift. asking for making the races shorter makes him sound like a weenie.

soo if nothing happens in the 3 hours of coverage we see now wats gonna happen in a shorter time slot?? maybe massa just wants the last lap cut off the races lol. or maybe put the finish line 2 corners back lol.
