i think the coverage was miles better than ITV, the commentary was spot on, the only think i found annoying was when the coverage was showing Hamilton when further up the road Kubica and Vettel were realing in Button, Brundle was talking about it but no TV pics

Anyway , Well done Button Barri Brawn and all the team, keep up the good work, i cant wait till next weekend, F1, Touring cars and is there a WRC event?

F1 » Button: Oz win 'fairytale' end to traumatic winter

Let's hope this is the first of many, Jenson Button asserts after leading Brawn GP to a spectacular one-two triumph in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

Congratulations to all at Brawn, fantastic result and well deserved for all concerned.
The main thing I was disappointed at was the BBC TV coverage, it wasn't any different to ITV, OK there weren't the annoying ad breaks but in terms of quality it was exactly the same. Even the highlights this afternoon contained very little else, the web coverage was average, making more use of video clips but this was supposed to be the best F1 TV coverage ever, something to eclipse ITV, well it just didn't.

Andy,

100% agree...and no ad breaks...bliss :)

They have to get a bit sharper in the actual race coverage but that will come soon, for the 1st race it was a great effort.

Great result from Brawn, couldn't be happier for them.

BBC coverage not better? Did you use the red button?!?! Pre-practice sessions & qually they showed non-stop highlights of previous races at that circuit (& will be doing so for EVERY race). All practice sessions were shown with commentary. ITV had it on the web with no commentry.... and during the race there was a constant channel with the BBC showing 'on car' footage. We had BBC on the TV, FIA timing on one laptop & the 'on-car' feed on another laptop via the BBC. (Sad I know!) Plus - NO BL00DY ADVERTS!!! YAY!

Taz - the race coverage (pictures) are determined by the counrty hosting the race - so it would have been the same pics ITV or BBC....

Although Button deserved the win today, the stewards/FIA practically gifted him the win by rediculously not deploying the safety car until only after Button made his stop after Kaz's crash. It was immediately clear the SC would be deployed but then they waited 2 laps. If they hadn't Button would have fallen way back in the pack because others behind had just made their stops...Really remarkable I thought.

On the coverage, I wasn't to impressed either. I watch it here in the Netherlands and I thought here comes the best F1 commentary ever, but found myself switching back to the commercial channel here with Dutch commentary (RTL) and only switched in the commercial breaks.

I thought the coverage was very good, especially the practice commentating from Anthony Davidson. :D He is brilliant, gives a great insight, says exactly what he is thinking (one thing about Kubica was particularly memerable:D ) and told a great story about the biggest lie he's ever told one of his teams. :p I was properly laughing! :D If I had my way he'd take Eddie Jordan's place on the main BBC show, he really is amazing in my opinion! :D
I will definatly be watching or recording EVERY practice session this season, and recommend anyone else who can to try it out! :D

Congrats to jenson, Rubens and the Brawn GP Team. Unfortunately, the diffuser issue has been allowed to fester and the result may yet be overturned, giving the win to Lewis Hamilton, with Sebastien Buemi capping out an excellent debut.

Now that Button has won his second race, I wonder if John Surtees is going to appologize for those nasty comments he made last week? I'm sure we all remember Surtees say that Brawn should dump under achieving Button for another driver. Well who's laughing now Mr. Surtees? Who's the under achiever now? :p

Come now Bunnyboiler, John surtees has an opinion. As a former world champion on 2 and 4 wheels he deserves to be listened to!

An enjoyable race, I agree with someone earlier Brawn had luck on their side with the safety period!

Role on race 2
