Basically there was no difference at all, the coverage was pretty much the same at ITV, in fact ITV always added much more to their highlights show, the Beeb did nothing just a short clip of JH noting that trulli had been demoted, I thought it was very poor considering all the hype beforehand.

Eddie Jordan is embarrassing, he always puts his foot in it, tries to be clever but clearly isn't, never has been.

DC was excellent, Jake Humphrey was very professional, Brundle was good, Lee and Ted OK but I did think that Jonathan Legard was very poor, I don't like James Allen but Legard was appalling, very very weak and made a great race seem very boring.

F1 » F1's return to the BBC – what did you think?

After twelve years on ITV, F1 returned to the BBC for the 2009 curtain-raising Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne - but how good a job did the Beeb do? Have your say here...

I thought the coverage was much better than ITV with the ex-drivers and ex-team owners really got across the point of how close and attention to details is involved in F1. The qualifying commentary coverage was poor. It was as if Martin and the other guy, to a much higher degree, did not have access to the timings. I think they were as shocked as everyone else was when Button came through. Generally a good job and so much better with no adverts.

All in all a 100% improvement over the ITV offerings, and the additional bits on the web site & red button just add to it
Way to go BBC

I watched both practice and the race live so much better no adverts and you saw bits that we have not seen before as itv would have been away with an advert, once Martin and Jonathan get to know each other better they will only improve, as for the other 3 they look a good team David could chill out abit but he did a good job they all did, really look forward for a great season, just hope that the stewards at the meetings don't screw up.

Yes I think the whole show went off very well, (I hated the advert breaks on ITV,) so congrats to the BBC for a good show, keep it up.

Much prefer Jonathan Leggyyard to Keith allen or whatever the TV comedian was called, although he did get rather over excited during qualifying when he thought that Alonso might not make it through the first session even though there was still two minutes to go.

Don't see why they need 3 people standing in the pit lane talking about things and can't see the point in Lee McKenzie but otherwise it was really weird not to see any advertising breaks all the time! :)

Very weak indeed, after all the pre season hype it was crap, really very poor, to be fair to ITV they did a much much better job.

Overall I enjoyed the coverage, the one thing I did not like was the over frantic intro, strange dislike I know, but it was too long and too flashie. Why do intros and trailers not give you chance to see anything for more than a split-second these days, or blind you with a white flash? :?

Considering that we the licence fee payer are funding it I thought is was rubbish, no different to ITV, so the ad breaks weren't there great. Eddie Jordan is a wally, why on earth drag him out, DC was good and will improve, the others were adequate, Jake Humphrey I thought very slick.
