The race would probably be held before Brazil, 25 October. Although it's cool at that time of year, 5-15C, we don't get snow here until late November-early December.

Whether or not the race returns it's good to see money-grubbing Finklestone squirm! Montreal was one of the favourite stops and had the best festival atmosphere. 300,000 race-crazed fans and 4 days of non-stop street parties! Middle-of nowhere Abu Dhabi with it's sterile track and zero nightlife won't attract anybody but a few hundred billionaire sheiks and their few thousand servants.

Expect the facility to be completed on time though: they'll just have to hire more slave labour.

F1 » Montreal to get '09 F1 reprieve at expense of Abu Dhabi?

Rumours circulate that the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal could be set to return to the 2009 F1 calendar as a replacement for the Abu Dhabi finale, with claims the Yas Marina circuit is behind schedule on construction.

Quite disappointing about the Abu Dhabi track allegedly falling behind schedule, I was looking forward to a new circuit this season.
However I am a little worried that it could turn into a Valencia, which would be a huge disappointment for the season finale.
Atleast if it is held Canada we know what is in store, and it could be a very exciting race.
Either way, I'll be watching it!!! :D

Canada would be a fantastic choice for the finale. It is up there with the best circuits on the calendar and always gives a good race. :)

If Abu Dhabi never happens and we get to keep Montreal i would be very happy. Dont get me wrong im all for new circuits but there have been just too many in the last 5 years at the expense of classic circuits. Give me a race at an old fashioned classic track over one of these atmospherless Tilke designed identi-circuits anyday!!

I wonder if F1 has ever raced in the snow, cause at that time of year, while remote, snow is a possibility

NASCAR has run in Montreal the last couple of years - it isn't replacing F1...

Good day to all...

I hope the mayor and the primier stick it to Bernie if he comes calling. Long term or no deal. He has never been a true sportsmen and only cares about his money. History will not remember him or any of his fat cats favourably...

Nope, Wrong time of the year. The temp will be under 40 degrees F. Country wide snowstorm last yr. Maybe that's why Kimi has been practising with snowmobiles' :)
