"Pull a Brawn"? What are you talking about? Brawn built that car with Honda's money, which was hardly budget capped.

I don't like all the hinting. Just tell us if and when you're ready to join F1!

I love the idea of new teams opting for the budget cap route, especially if some clever **** can 'do a Brawn' and leap up the grid.

I think DR should worry about saving what's left of his organisation before going into F1...

At the rate he's going there will be nothing left of Prodrive or his beloved Aston Martin Racing!

The simple fact that there are some iconic motor-racing names - Aston Martin, Lola - considering coming into F1 now there is a capped budget route really does suggest that the money issue had got out of hand.

One issue - Hondas £147m/14 points situation has been offered up here on crash as an example of spending huge sums for little reward. But any budget cap team finishing with less than 4 points is in the same situation, and with more teams that seems quite likely.

trebor901. not correct. whoever comes in will need an engine. if it is the spec cosworth, it would be lola cosworth and aston martin cosworth. as neither lola or aston martin are manufacturing an engine(presumably) you couldnt even have a lola aston martin! but i still see this budget cap system creating a two tier competition, unless ALL teams are subject to it. and then the question is, who would police it? the big teams would employ inventive accountants and there would be protest after protest! limiting engine BHP would be a preferable step. any number of cylinders, any capacity but max 800 bhp. this will still allow ingenuity!

I think i'd be great to see Prodrive and Aston on the grid. They've done a great job in endurance racing, i can't see why they wouldn't be strong in F1.

Umm surely Aston Martin were in F1 in the late 50's/early 60s with one of the last front engined cars? So it wouldnt be their first time in the top flight as per the article. Poor journalism!
