It's about bloody time someone stood up to the FIA.

This whole thing has been ridiculous. Issues should not be allowed to drag on this long. McLaren/Hamilton lied, although the points were rightly theres. So as punishment they had their points stripped. That should be the end of it. People have lied in F1 time and time again and I don't remember ever being dragged out like this.

Any penalties should have to be declared by the end of the racing day by the stewards at the track. All this crap of issues dagging on for weeks and weeks does more damage to the sport that the lie itself. It would have been forgotten by now if the issue was settled at the race.

Pathetic

this is a disapointing comment from merc. it smacks of trying to influence the fia. they are saying that IF the ruling goes against mclaren, then F1 will lose them as a manufacturers team. presumably if the ruling is in their favour, then merc will stay. they should have held fire until after the decision of fia, be it good or bad.

I've thought for a long time that Mercedes are just looking for a get out. They made some comments last week eluding to enviroment issues and now stating that to tough a sanction could just be to much.
Now that will really test the FIA just how much is too much? I'll hazard a guess at less than any punishment meted out.

With dennis now having nothing to do with f1 at mclaren i think max and bernie have what they really wanted and that is rid of big ron. Bernie could turn around at the meeting and say that we have new teams waiting to enter f1 with the announcements that have been in the press of late i.e lotus/aston martin/ prodrive all interested so it could go either way but i do not believe bernie wants to loose mercedes.

This whole sorry thing has been blown out of all proportions by the fia/stewards ferrari should have been banned years ago for lying if this is the case.

rich ard i disagree with you it is now historical fact that the fia are biased towards mclaren this is obvious in the penalties dished out to the team for even minor issues and the spygate scandal what punishment did renault get for having mclaren data on their systems.

Merc are letting the fia know that they have had enough of the biased attitude towards mclaren by the fia and mosley/ecclestones interference in f1

This is wrong, or rather biased comments by Crash Readers ( or should I say Lewis Die hard fans ). When Ferrari is influencing the FIA, most people in crash bash Ferrari about this, but when Mclaren is threatening the FIA, all is ok and f**k FIA. Oh I remember, Mclaren and Lewis is the "Victim" here and not the FIA officials who was made look stupid by Lewis and Ryan. I may not like the FIA but this time they are right, facts speak for itself.. Mclaren is loosing more credibility year after year.

at the end of the day who can blame them if they leave their main team mclaren have had the thick end of the wedge for a long time and has been getting worse i only hope that the punishment fits the crime for mclaren they have already been disqualified from the race were the incident took place just give them a 2 year suspended sentence or a 2 year probation period and let that be the end of it

To me Merc's attitude is common sense. If the punishment is particularly harsh, such as exclusion from the championship, then Mercedes will find themself with a team that can't compete, so what else should they do? If the team they part own can't compete, then why should they continue to support any other teams, without anywhere near the same level of publicity?

Who cares if they go. FIA should call Merc's bluff. Pack your bags then. Another team will take your place.
