terry, this IS serious. if ferrari do in fact leave, they will be followed by 4 other teams at least, all of whom have the same objections as ferrari. so dont pick on ferrari just because you do not like them.

There is a serious problem with any sport when one team or player/rider becomes "more important" than that sport. I think most of these new rules are stupid but if they are to be changed it shouldn't be done just to please Ferrari. F1 will be F1 with or without Ferrari and Ferrari needs to be treated equally like any other team in F1. As it is one problem with F1 is the perception that they favor Ferrari to the point of "suspiciously" apply penalties/judgements to favor Ferrari's chances of winning. This isn't good for F1 just like it wouldn't be any for any sport. Any rules package must be done with the good of F1 in mind not the good of specifically Ferrari

Hopefully they will leave and concentrate on their excellent road car division.

Without Jean Todt and Schumi, they are hopeless - even with 100 million 'free' from the FIA and people bending the rules.

Long live F1.

F1 without Ferrari is about as unthinkable as Grand Prix racing without a French Grand Prix!! Oh, wait, we've got that ... along with a very shaky British GP, and I can't say I'm too confident a German GP is certain in the near future.

But don't let Ferrari kid anyone: Ferrari needs F1 as much as F1 needs Ferarri. And other people -- sponsors -- pay the bulk of Ferrari racing-related costs.

Any source on Ferrari's interest in Le Mans? I know they've been running the 430 but if they decide to get into the prototypes... dear lord that would be so awesome.

"Without Jean Todt and Schumi, they are hopeless"

That statement is a huge dis-service to Brawn. He was the brains behind many of Shmuachers wins and championships.

Whilst I understand that Ferrari are a large draw to the sport, financially and physically, I don't understand why F1 wouldn't be F1 if it didn't have Ferrari competing. They are a team just like any other.

Yes, viewing figures will drop, but, in my opinion, if you turn your back on a sport because 'your' team is no longer present then you are not a fan of the sport, you're a fan of the brand.

The other teams also threatening to quit is a serious problem, but Toyota going, it's still F1, BMW go, it's still F1, Ferrari go, now it's no longer F1. What?

At this point it is just a lot of posturing. Mercedes were willing to walk if Liegate didn't go their way. They have proven that if you threaten to leave you will probably get your way.

With Mosley's son's tragic death it is obviously a very difficult time for him to make any decisions about the future of the sport. He may just dig his heals in or he may lose his will to fight.

The FIA needs to work on consistency and not try to rewrite the rules every year. They also need to decide if they will appease the current teams or the future teams.
