We all know that this will NEVER happen. Teams that threaten to leave F1 will be pacified in one way or another. F1 will still be F1 next year, and that will include Ferrari, Toyota, Red Bull, et al.

If Ferrari go then Toro Rosso need a new engine supplier. If Toyota goes then Williams needs engines next year too. BMW have said they are ready to go. The other five teams are powered by just two engine builders, Mercedes (Mcl, Brawn and Force India) and Renault (Renault and Red Bull). Budget teams coming in don't want to spend the millions that these big names spend on developing engine and gearbox technology. We'll be getting closer and closer to unimaginative standardised cars.

Moto GP survived for years without Ducati,F1 will survive with or without Ferrari.I really hope they don't quit but I reckon the proposed budget caps are the way the sport needs to go in order to survive.Things such as Ferrari and Mclaren's hospitality units are ridiculous as are Raikkonen's wages.Brawn GP have shown that you can fight for the F1 title without spending endless amounts of money. If as it seems, that Ferrari's answer these proposals is to sulk off because they can't have their own way then that is their choice.

"FOTA decides to run its own series without the interference of the FIA"

I'd really like to hear just how you think that would work

the FIA licenses drivers
the FIA licenses circuits

so any driver in F1 would be excluded from anything else. Any circuit that ran F1 would be excluded from anything else.... you getting an idea of how difficult a non FIA approved series would be yet...

No single team must never be bigger than the sport.
If the FIA back down F1 is over as a sport.

Ferrari is not the be all and end all of F1....Fonsi is. Let Fernando Alonso do what he does best and drive for victories....Fonsi is a God

piercarlo, do you not think that it is the fia who are the bullies?? f1 needs major teams so as to have credence of being the pinnacle. if these teams decide to drop out, we will be left with a sanitised lowkey series.

I think this must be the 1st and only time I've ever agreed with ferrari. Max Mosely and the FIA seriously need to take a step back and look at what they are proposing to do to the sport. with Toyota Ferrari and red bull already threatening to walk it is only a matter of time before Mclaren and Renault will follow. What will be left of the championshiop isn't going to be worth watching. It is almost as though they are trying to make F1 like A1GP which no disrespect would be a bad thing. F1 should be the pinnacle of motorsport as it has always been portrayed to be. Cut cost by all means but budget caps are just not the way forward :?

Ford/Cosworth have just created 100 jobs in Northampton for F1 engines, so we should have 3 confirmed engine suppliers for 2010, but I'm sure Ferrari and BMW will continue supplying engines for a while.

I really hope Ferrari follow this through and get out, F1 might become fairer, and it should be cheaper for the real fans.
