F1 as the premier motorsport series is dead. Development will stagnate.

Roll on the new breakaway series. We now need a new F1, something free of the FIA's corrupt meddling, and something with open technical regulations to allow new technology, particularly allowing for racing that is not based on Petrol/Diesel.

F1 » Ferrari F1 budget cap injunction refused

A French court has thrown out Ferrari's bid to see an injunction granted against FIA President Max Mosley's unpopular cost cap - under which the Scuderia contends F1 would carry less value.

Its time someone stood up to the mafia running F1,
If it were not for the competitors they would have nothing, huge amounts of cash which should be available
to competitors, organisers etc.is being milked by this gang.

My predition on all this, is that McLaren, Williams and Brawn will make it clear they will sign up to a budget capped F1, Force India will follow as a Merc customer, and the pack of cards will fall like it always does. Over to you, Ferrari.

XWNI, I would love to see more open regs, but you must realise casual fans couldn't care less about the technology involed, they just want good, fast, close racing. ALMS/LMS has for a while now been the home of innovation.
Re Ferrari slagging off the potential entrants, I've never heard such nonsense. Once there was a time when aspirational teams like RML and Epsion-Euskadi could have climbed the ladder to F1, but teams like Ferrari, intent on winning at all costs, made that impossible. All teams have to start somewhere, and budget caps are the only way to stop money rather than engineering talent dictating results in F1.

In response to the court findings, Ferrari issued the following statement:

F1 survived the loss of Lotus, Brabham, Tyrrell, BRM and plenty of others. It would be no big deal to lose those whingers Ferrari. Though I would feel sorry for the hundreds of workers who would then be out of a job because of their inability to compromise. any breakaway series would be laughable and be a showboat for selling cars, who would want that? plus they almost certainly wouldn't get FIA approval which would make it unrecognised and potentially dangerous. Anyway it won't happen, its just an attempt to achieve a bargaining position. there will be compromise and Ferrari and the others will all be there next year, without a doubt.
