This is what i see happening......
Max, Bernie and the FIA get their wicked way, Ferrari, Toyota et al bite the bullet and back down because they don't want to face huge fines for breach of contract and the show goes on.
However, I really don't care if this is how it pans out, i'm not that bothered that Williams have been temporarily ousted from FOTA, all i really give a flying feck about is that this childish, pathetic bickering and squabbling is resolved and we can get back to BL  :rolleyes:DY RACING!!!! After all, isn't that what F1 is supposed to be about? :?

F1 » FOTA suspends Williams over 2010 F1 entry

Williams has become the first victim of the growing dissension within the FOTA ranks - finding its membership suspended for having submitted an entry to the 2010 F1 World Championship.

Max can imposed his spending cap on the teams. Results - teams have to lay off their technicians & engineers. They in turn go & work for the new teams, bringing along their technical knowledge about Ferrari, BMW, Toyota, Mercedes, Renault to the new teams. I can imagine a string of law suits coming this way.

Has FOTA lost all sense of reality? At a time when they are engaged in some serious talks with the sports governing body which will have an impact on the future of F1, they decide to suspend on of their own. Total madness at a time that the teams need to show solidarity. Okay, Williams have signed up for next year, but by doing that they can say to Max: "We'll play your game, now how about you play ours?" Also, look at Williams title sponsor - RBS. I am sure that I read that RBS are not sponsoring Williams as of 2010 or 2011 so they need to show to potential sponsors that they are committed to F1. Bit over the top for FOTA to do this.

williams broke ranks, but were always going to sign up. they have egg on their faces, signing a fota letter and then going behind their back. but i dont know what effect being suspended by fota will have, its not as if they can be penalised in any way. mad max has probably guaranteed them something in return. who will he work on next??

Racefan - it is a dog eat dog world (so if your a vegetraian, you are completely screwed). The story so far was:

Ferrari, Renault, Toyota & Red Bull v Max

THEN

FOTA v Max

NOW

FOTA V Williams and at the same time FOTA v Max

I'm not sure what the score is but it will either go into extra time or penalties.

The saga continues (like a bad soap opera)...

:)

Max, Bernie and FOTA go for a picnic 1,000,000 miles from where they live. It takes them 10 days to get there and when they get there, they find they have forgotten the bottle opener! Max and Bernie ask FOTA to fetch it but FOTA says '**** off, by the time I get back you will have eaten all the sandwiches' Max and Bernie promise not to eat the sandwiches so FOTA agrees to go. 10 days pass and FOTA has not returned. 20 days pass and he has still not returned and Max and Bernie are ****in starvin, but keep there promise not to eat the sandwiches. 25 days pass and Max and Bernie say '**** it! we're gonna starve if we dont eat.' As they start to eat the sandwiches, FOTA jumps from behind a rock and shouts 'I ****in knew it, you *******s! I'm not goin now

Everyone keeps going on about unity in FOTA but Sir Frank has rightly been keen to have a budget cap since it was first mentioned and quite rightly as it makes better business sense to him and his team due to their lack of a big sponsor since RBS pulling the plug... lower running costs will offset the damage to Williams. So the fact that they have entered against the will of the other teams means he can't win either way, he is knackered if their is no cap and branded a turncoat if he agrees with it, FOTA is not a dictatorship of Manufacturers and each team should be able to make their own decisions... If they want unanimous decisions the big teams have to see the small teams perspective!

I wonder if this is the forst sign that Williams intend to use Mercedes engines for next season, because it would seem that all the other Mercedes powered teams are about to sign up whilst Toyota are possibly on their way out of F1.
