"nobody knows who they are or remembers them anyway"
Really? Sir jack is quite well known in motor racing circles, as is the former Brabham Team. Moron.
Brabham wants to stop someone from dragging his name and reputation through the mud, fair play to him I say.

Good! I hope the Brabham family stop this travesty. But the thing is Sir Jack sold the rights years ago, so does he really have a case? :?

'To protect their reputation' what on earth do they mean, nobody knows who they are or remembers them anyway. Doesn't matter nowadays as Brabham doesn't exist anyway, surely you could call your team, BRM or Vanwall, or whatever you wanted? :?

Alex:

He's probably a Hamilton fan so he'll be about 14 so you can't be to hard on him if he hasn't heard of Brabham.

I wonder what rights he actually sold, he could have sold the right for use to manufacture road cards but not for motor racing...I don't know but if they are seeking legal advice it would suggest some agreement may have been breeched.

Crash make this look like Hamilton drove for Brabham.'Amongst the esteemed names on its driving roll of honour ... as well as Damon Hill, until Lewis Hamilton the last British star to lift the ultimate trophy'. I don't think so. This is poor journalism again. With regard to protecting their reputation, I'd agree with Jack & his family & Ron Tourenac. The last team bearing the Brabham name (after Ecclestone sold it on)was a joke, even if Damon was driving for them in his first season. The Brabhams vowed then that their name would not be used in racing again unless they were in full agreement. Just call it Formtech & be done with it.

The origional company was sold to a B.Ecclestone who i can't see slipping up in not having the right to sell on the name otherwise he would have sold "a" Grand Prix team that can run "some" Grand Prix cars.

I agree with kartman's comment about the business acumen of the ever popular Bernard Ecclestone. however, I might get a little upset if USF1 were to call their cars "Eagle," without checking with Dan Gurney first.

I'm afraid that I DO remember Jack Brabham - at a time when F1 drivers conducted themselves with dignity. I no longer watch F1 after 50 years of being a motor racing fan - and no I don't look at it with rose tinted spectacles. Like every other sport today it is dominated by sponsor's money, a very sad state of affairs. I hope Sir Jack is successful. Like Gil Bouffard, I take umbrage at names which mean something to me, being used to generate commercial interest. (There is only ONE Eagle F1 car - that glorious V12 Weslake.)

And that is why I'll be in Monterey, California, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca over the weekend 14-16 August for the 36th Monterey Historic Automobile Automobile Races! It is always a special event on my calendar. If I could get to Goodwood, I'd have two big events on my calendar.
