F1 » Lauda: It's a miracle anyone is still watching F1

Triple F1 world champion Niki Lauda has blasted arrogance, egos and personal agendas for the ongoing FIA-FOTA budget cap war, as Ross Brawn insists the sport must learn from the crisis.

Maybe because the average viewer doesn't give a **** about all the politics and just tunes in on the sunday at 13.55 to see some guys racing some cool cars with wings.

"Lauda believes that the key players involved - most promintly Fia President Max Mosley and Ferrari ...."

A prominent F1 person who has got the grit to say that Ferrari is a big F1 problem as I think they have been for at least 2 decades.

Will history be allowed to repeat itself. Or are the politics, self interest and money too ingrained in the sport?

Quote from Mark Hughes 'Speed Addicts' describing the 1959 Cooper T51
"It wasn't only the design of the Cooper that was revolutionary. The way in which it was conceived and built - using bought-in engines and gearboxes from proprietary manufacturers and adapting parts from wherever they could be cheaply sourced - made F1 far more accessible to those heavy on ideas but light on resources. This ultimately took F1 away from the grip of road-car producers and led to a nucleus of specialist constructors - mainly British - operating along much the same principles as Cooper."

I don't give a **** maybe for last fifteen years. The great atmosphere and the legacy had evaporated almost two decades ago. Now it is just a misery!

Mad Max's perverse desire for Domination and Control is the sole cause of this mess, Max must go.

Trying to force the stupid "Budget Cap" on the teams at a moments notice, then threatening them when they do not agree to such drastic changes overnight..... How laughable that the deluded Despot is trying to do this in the name of "Saving money" ... when his stupid Green posturing with KERS has wasted over a Billion... and the FIA/FOM Banana Republic running F1 takes 50% of the money for running it so badly ?

Time to go Max. Long overdue in fact and keenly awaited by many, do you actually have any friends at all left ?

It never fails to amaze me the amount of folk who clearly don't like F1 but continue to post anti F1 comments. Are your lives so empty that you have to bore others with your drivel about how you don't like F1? Here's a thought, how about all the anti-F1 posters **** off to their preferred form of motorsport and leave the F1 forum for the F1 fans.

I reckon that Niki Lauda would be good as the head of the FIA. He has the experience and best of all he isn't afraid to speak his mind and say thing how they really are. Unlike MM, he is not into political jesturing and soundbites. He just comes straight out with stuf and doesn't give a rats backside. Class guy!

I must agree with Lauda in that its a miracle people have any more interest in F1. I will go as far as saying that this whole issue has become almost too stupid for words now. That said, Max Mosley is the one and only who is trying to bring new teams to F1 - teams who otherwise wouldnt have a bat in hells chance. These guys like Lauda, Stewart, Schumacher, etc are too well used to too much big money and have no idea what it is like in difficult times, and giving the small team a chance (what MM is now trying to do). Also it must be understood the budget cap is supposed to be for engines only - the whole thing stinks of snobbery and stupidity. :?

I think its time now for Max Mosley to retire and for someone who is impartial to the world of motor sport to take the helm of a transparent FIA who is answerable to the decisions they make each and every time. But also a FIA that clearly listens to the teams ! They pay to enter the sport of F1 therefore should be allowed more say in the way the sport is run BUT not complete control !, it seems to me that whilst I do agree with the cost cutting ideas its needed badly with the current climate, its not appropriate the way in which Max is trying to force through his conceptual ideas. Compromise needs to be held on both sides with a decided end goal they all agree on !!!
