Good-bye Bernie, Good-bye Max. I believe FOTA wil give us something special to watch, and I particularly don't mind if they splash money on better machinery. It would be good to see 900 plus HP cars again. I think FOTA will do something special for the new era of F1, though it may take a few years.I'm sure this site will hear from all the Ferrari haters but please try and remember the teams are all in this together. I believe Bernie is bitch slapping Max around in a motor home at the moment. It was only a matter of time before everything caught up with them. Hmmm...greed and dictatorship, deffinately a losing combo...the Lawman :) :)

It went wrong when they sold the commercial rights for billions and somebody had to pay the bill for that. That is when all the **** started.

The racing could have been cheaper.
More money could have gone to the teams.
The ticket prices could have been lower.

As we speak some rich banker is having a champagne breakfast with some hookers in a penthouse on top of a skyscraper in Dubai, paid with the interest on the loan for F1 commercial rights.

I think it's highly likely that Bernie will find a compromise with FOTA, one that involves the removal of Max from the FIA. I cannot imagine he will a) permit F1 to be broken up or b) permit a breakaway to draw breath without a slew of legal actions.
F1 will run in 2010, one way or another.

Yep. Tis just a shame the Mergers and Monopolies commission can't get involved and show Bernie he can't own everything and people have the right NOT to work for him.

Well done FOTA, you've finally stood up to those geriatric bullies Bernie and Max, you'll have the better of the two championships, more money, stronger brands, better drivers, better racing and a far more successful championship.

Bernie may still own the name F1 but it'll deteriorate into little more than another GP2 series, and who by the way bothers watching that or knows who on earth is leading the series, Zero interest, Zero future.

Am I the only person that actually hopes that this just gives FOTA a bit more leverage in order to sort the whole situation out and come to an ideal compromise between the two sides or am I missing something. :?

FOTA is not against cost cutting and has already achieved huge reductions... it just disagrees with implementation without negotiation.
This is an opportunity for those tracks that Bernie decided unilaterally weren't good enough to host some decent racing.
The silver lining is that the terrible twins will have to retire sometime and then F1 can reunite with FOTAs FU2 series!

I think it is a good thing that they will start an own championship... imo the current/upcoming rules are not F1-like, F1 is about technology! I ain't waiting for another version of A1GP/GP2 or whatever.

Hilarious. What a total clusterf**k.

Did noboddy learn from CART and IRL? The fanbase will be split, someone will come off worse, and overall both series will be a shadow of what F1 once was.

The sad thing is, I think FOTA will keep things as they are which means crap tedious racing and no chance for new/small teams unless you have a HUGE budget, i.e. RedBull.

It's been 20 years in the making but F1 is finally dead it would seem. Ah well.

Hmmmm.... wonder if this is why Lola withdrew it's F1 entry for next year because they knew about the FOTA series and could sign up for that instead?

This puts a bit of a shadow now over Jenson's season as if the other teams are quitting it is certainly gunna make him winning the championship less sensational.
