Good-bye Bernie, Good-bye Max. I believe FOTA wil give us something special to watch, and I particularly don't mind if they splash money on better machinery. It would be good to see 900 plus HP cars again. I think FOTA will do something special for the new era of F1, though it may take a few years.I'm sure this site will hear from all the Ferrari haters but please try and remember the teams are all in this together. I believe Bernie is bitch slapping Max around in a motor home at the moment. It was only a matter of time before everything caught up with them. Hmmm...greed and dictatorship, deffinately a losing combo...the Lawman :) :)

@ suckfizzle

Yes, yes and capitism is evil, greed will destroy the world blah blah.
If you had half a brain you would realise FOTA were FORCED by the FIA.
Words like MUST,DEMAND, COMPLY, SUBMIT, UNCONDITIONAL, REVOKE, THREATEN are written in statements along with "spin" by the FIA. How can you blame FOTA mate?
Its right there in front of you!

The FOTA teams will have to run 3 cars each then won't they? Maybe even 4 when they all turn on Red Bull and Torro Rosso and say that customer cars will be banned.

If someform of FOTA breakaway series did materialize, hopefully the engine rule will allow some variety on engine configuration. Bring back the V8 & V12 & Flat 12 engines!!!!

I still think this is just another barganing chip. They will have a series worked out, but this is trying to force their arguments.

IF its serious......i will be watching the FOTA series. I just hope the BBC cover it instead of whats left of the F1 series.

Well at last the threatened breakaway series has come. Serves em right, the stunning arrogance displayed by those who run (and have ruined the sport) could not go unpunished forever. They ruined the sport long ago with their complex rule making and changes which took th excitement out of the racing anyway. I hope now the FOTA will re-install the heart to the racing. I hope there are no last minute deals that prevent this breakway from happening, F1 just doesnt have any credibility any more.

Fred, I dont think the loss of the F1 name should affect the championship, as it has almost become a farce. Anyway when the Football division 1 changed its name to the Premier league, did that affect anything..No, it gave it a more meaningful title. The cart series failed because it was not supported unanimously. This series virtually is, although I dont know where both Williams and Force India teams will get their engines from as the spec of the new series will inevitably change and will not suit Mad Max and BE.

@JayBond. No, there will be no more V8's, V10's or V12's. There is costcutting going on, so just as in production cars the engine's need to be downsized.
1500 cc 4 bangers are the way to go......(does the name TAG ring a bell?)......and racing will be good!

Awesome and exciting news.

Eventhough I thought the teams should and could act upon their 'threat' of leaving the series if MM wouldn't learn some decent behaviour, I still thought the odds were that some compromise would be struck and F1 would continue on.

Seems like MM really messed it up for his pal BE now...Maybe he felt a little miffed at the Christmas card BE sent around and thought hey, you do this, I'll take away 100s of millions from you.

HAHA...Glad to see both of them gone, particularly MM.
