Good-bye Bernie, Good-bye Max. I believe FOTA wil give us something special to watch, and I particularly don't mind if they splash money on better machinery. It would be good to see 900 plus HP cars again. I think FOTA will do something special for the new era of F1, though it may take a few years.I'm sure this site will hear from all the Ferrari haters but please try and remember the teams are all in this together. I believe Bernie is bitch slapping Max around in a motor home at the moment. It was only a matter of time before everything caught up with them. Hmmm...greed and dictatorship, deffinately a losing combo...the Lawman :) :)

Whoops :)

It says: "FOTA has the objective to promote the development of Formula One and enhance its worldwide image and reputation"

Doing a great job boys. All the sponsors and casual fans love the emphasis on politics and not racing

FIA's says: "The FIA is also the governing body for motor sport worldwide. It administers the rules and regulations for all international four-wheel motor sport ..."

So, is a breakaway even possible?

@ Rankle

Mosley has said he will rubber stamp the series already.
Even if he doesnt, FOTA can race in a series of their own making, it just wont be rubber stamped.
And mosley will look even more stupid!

Maybe the FIA will invite F2 teams to provide extra cars for their grids now? Last time I believe AGS and a couple of others said they would when J-M B gave them the call.

@Johnson

Well, that's one thing I suppose.

Seriously though, how will the manafacturers fill a grid let alone the FIA series?

@ rankle

They have 8 teams already. Then you have smaller teams who will be invited to join.

In addition Mercedes could run an AMG team, or even a much mooted link with PRODRIVE. Ferrari could resurect MASERATI(wow) or even bring FIAT. BMW could also Do an M brand or MINI. LOLA will also be interested given the snub by the FIA the posibilities are endless!

Which smaller teams?

Will BMW, Toyota, Renault be in this new series till the end of time? I think not. Ferrari and McLaren will turn on Red Bull and say that no customer teams are allowed

Then we'll be left with two teams running 10 cars each. Just like the DTM. Which you think is a great idea.

Answer me this. How is the DTM different from F3? A manufacturer makes some cars, then gets teams to run them either in house or by leasing them.

Your main point yesterday was that the BTCC had its heyday in the manufacturer led era. Correct. Couldn't agree more. F1's heyday was (probably) the last few years. But the key words there are are "had" and "was".

Johnson stop counting chickens - see how this plays out first - this has a long way to go before we know the real outcome.
