he was the stig for one day doing the Ferrari FXX lap because Ferrari won't allow anybody else, apart from the owners and their test drivers to pilot the beast.

BBC have already released a statement saying it was a gimmick.

I think that episode may have been recorded on April 1st lol

The BBC caused a shock on Sunday night when legendary F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher was unveiled as the mysterious Stig - but was it all just a big publicity stunt..?

No it was just a publicity stunt by Top Gear to try to stop people trying to guess who he actually is. Plus it cant be Schumacher cos Ferrari stop him from driving cars that arent made by the FIAT group.

2pac, i agree, it was totally obvious that it was a complete set up! the programme had to have a guest. anyway, the bbc could not afford to have him on weekly stand by. funny how so many nationals were fooled by so obvious a set-up. but i would like to know who was in the low priced car at the end.

Richard - it was probably Ralf driving the reasonably priced car at the end lol

I couldnt help but hear a few boo's in the crowd as he removed his white Simpson helmet, I think it was an astonishing lap to go 7 seconds quicker!!!

Come on...Like anyone really believes MS is the stig.

Yes...he's going to hang out in the UK all the time learning some soap stars how to go round a track, sure...He's going to drive a few 100 miles to Scotland in a Caterham...

Seriously...anyone who believed that is about as sane as Max Mosley.

Of course he isn't!

A BBC insider admitted it was done "as a joke." A BBC spokesman said: "We never reveal who or what the Stig is."

It's not MS, Ive met someone who did the timing and race data for when they entered into the 24hr race at silverstone and its 2 people that act as the stig Ben collins as some have said and another 19-20yr old driver who i cant remember the name of but apparently very talented in BTCC.

Apparently Ben is thick as ****, was the only comment I got from the guy who knew him.

No its not MS but it certainly will have most of the media outlets in the world and motorsport forums talking about the true identity of the Stig and give Top Gear the publicity coup the BBC desired.
