@ mrdood

moral of the story ...

history, international sanctioning bodies, etc all mean very little.

If the show is good, the fans will follow, the TV will follow, it will succeed.

What makes the show?
The competitors (in this case teams & drivers)
How you present it

Does FOTA have the ability to deliver those 2 things?
YES

Do they need FIA, Max, Bernie, CVC, the F1 name it order to deliver?
NO

F1 » Bernie: Teams need F1 more than F1 needs them

Bernie Ecclestone has warned the FOTA dissenters to think carefully before jumping ship and forming their own 'breakaway' series - arguing they wouldn't last a second without F1's support.

Bernie is in a tough spot. He's highly levered and without Ferrari and to a lessor extent the others, his loans will be called, he will be ruined along with the old F1.

OK so 2Pac

How exactly can organising a breakaway championship jeopardise peoples livelihoods?

Max's rules, however, do exactly that.

The FIA is not recognised or empowered by any government.
They are an umbrella body representing their member organisations, many of whom represent the manufacturers interests in any given region.

All the above aside ... we're talking about subsidies with regards Bernie's comments & this scenario specifically ... try not rush off at a tangent, else your comments make little sense.

2Pac - Fundamental law of the universe: the lawyers always get richer. I read a comment a few days back that Max is a lawyer...

Dale, i didn't say the breakaway did necessary jepodise peoples livelihoods. The point I'm making is that the manufacturers have to be responsible with their spending.

How does a budget cap, as proposed by the FIA, threaten peoples livelihoods? and before you start talking about F1 team employee losing jobs think about how many people are employed by BMW F1 for example compared to how many people are employed by BMW in the manufacturing of production vehicles (cars & bikes) and how many people are employed by the sub-suppliers to BMW.

I did my apprenticeship at Rover which was never a big world-wide manufacturer but I bet they employed more people than the whole F1 industry combined.

I'd love for somebody to ask Max and Bernie - if the FOTA teams are not the lifeblood of F1 why dont you just let them walk away into the sunset and let them have their own series??

answer to that is - they know damn well F1 will lose out without the FOTA teams!!!

Instead of all this posturing they should be locked in a room bending over backwards to undo the wrongs Max has brought upon the sport - shame as it lets his record on safety down.

I think both the silly old farts of Bernie who is 78 years old with Max at 69 years old is showing their old age lately with their comedy actions and words, it's time to pi$$ off Bernie and Max, we need young blood in the management with more common senses and more true with the fans.

What bother me mostly for the last few years that Bernie threaten to axe the British GP and only deceided to say the British GP will be safe last weekend, he is a fake! Silverstone was packed with fans while both Turkey was nearly empty in the grandstands.

The circus need some clowns to join which it will e suited for Bernie and Max, FOTA will make it work.

If Max and Bernie spent as much time talking to the teams as they do talking to the media,I reckon this mess would have been sorted by now! (Bernie, that wig looks ridiculous, time for a new one mate,Eddie Jordan's isn't bad, have a word with him)

As much as I simply love arguing with 2pac :) I have to say, I think he's right on this one.

F1 will have all of the commercial power, and the organisations contracted to it will have a job breaking out of their shrinkwrap... for next year at least. Although obviously I'm factless there so could be totally wrong...

Either way, without the guarranteed knowledge of how much they can spend, how can FOTA go about organising a championship? Everything would need a bidget, and a speculative budget is as good as pissing in the wind.

Then there's the fact that they can't agree on anything anyway. Max was right with what he said at the weekend- (continued)
