Hockenheim city council have announced that they can no longer afford to host F1 at the circuit - meaning the future of the German Grand Prix hangs precariously in the balance.

Awesome! That frees up a space on the calender for another race on a dull track in a country that doesn't watch F1. I'm thinking Iran maybe? :p

@ Alan - true that. There must be another track in germany that could host a grand prix?

This is the real world. If a track cannot make money from hosting an event such as this, because the price for them is too high, they should say no. Why should the local government make a loss just so that BE can have his money.

BE is only seeing the equation from his side and sooner or later it will bite him.

That's not a major loss. The old Hockenheim was fantastic and often threw-up a few unusual results. The revamped circuit was OK but not as good as the old one. The Nurburgring is a good circuit though so the German GP there would be good.

I think that I may be one of the only fans that prefers the new Hockenheim. There was almost no overtaking on the old circuit. The new track has added two good overtaking opportunities. We have had much better races at the new track than I can ever remember at the old track. Having said that, I do like tradition and it is a shame that it is no longer possible to run the old track.

What a bunch of tools. Cut up a beautiful track to please the F1 masters now they don't have a classic track or F1 race anymore. What a mess.
