If it comes down to Danica choosing NASCAR over F1 she really is just admitting that she can't hack it in F1.

Anyone who trains for years and dreams of hitting the big time and who makes it in open-wheel racing and then says no to F1 is NOT a serious racing competitor. Competing is the thing, rookie F1 team or not.

NASCAR is for old folks - she can always do it later.

Face it, she's afraid of F1.

If they want sponsorship money first and foremost, Danica is by far the best possible choice.

If they want to contend and WIN races, they could do much better. 1 win in 5 years is not too impressive.

Got to agree with you BC, she's not very good, certainly not good enough to warrant an F1 drive. But I can't think of 2 American drivers that I think are genuinely ready to make the jump (or would want to). The problem is that IRL isn't a good series, deff not a good F1 feeder series. If a yank really wanted to make it in F1, they would have to race in European feeder series (F3, F2, GP2 etc) first.

michael andretti never stood a chance in f1,he had senna as his teammate at mclaren and mclaren favoured senna over andretti all the time not unsurprisingly.

@smokey

Please! Michael Andretti failed at F1 because he never made the effort. He commuted to races from America for gods sake! As for having Senna for a team mate, didn't do Hakkinen any harm in the last 3 races of '93.

I will agree with you that she is smokin' hot though!

THAT'S DANICK PATRICK!!!??? She can certainly join F1 but the rest of the US team can stay. Everytime the Americans have been in F1 they have failed. In my humble opinion, all they are doing is taking 2 grid spaces away from a proper team like Prodrive who would have been an excellent addition to F1.

That's a photoshopped Danica... but whatever....

Danica isn't bad, she's not the best either... as far as IRL goes... she's pretty consistent as far as results have gone this year.

usf1 must be trying to persuade her, as part of a marketing drive, as danica has already said that she wasnt interested. if she gets the drive, it should be on her driving skills alone. i dont think that she has the raw ability, but she does have a bit of talent. but pointless to have her trailing around at the back.

@andrewm - Dave Richards has had his chance. I would say that he failed and just took up grid space as well. It is true that it has been a while since any Americans have succeeded in F1 but that is no reason to ban them. If you don't want any North American participants why would you want any North American races? This type of protectionist attitude is not right for a sport that is supposed to be international.

He commuted to races from America for gods sake!

I could never understand what difference that made. Would commuting from Monaco make him better? Really, what was he going to do? Work at the factory in fabrication? Do a bit of aerodynamics? Analysis data with the engineers? Seriously, he was a driver and if he wasn't driving what good could he do sitting around?

Anyway, USF1 can keep dreaming about Kyle Bush - they can't afford him. Rahal is the right kind of kid but he would need an experienced driver. Speed maybe the guy but he has an awfully bad taste in his mouth from F1 - and he seems to be having a bit of fun in NASCAR. con't...
