Alonso at Ferrari? Can't see it happening. Briatore has already lost one wunderkid to the reds. Can't see him making the same mistake twice.

If he is the number 2 driver and is put in his place very early on with Massa being the number 1 driver then it would be good but it won't happen.

F1 » Ferrari: Alonso Monza announcement just 'speculation'

The noises in the F1 paddock that Fernando Alonso is Ferrari-bound in 2010 - on a five-year contract - refuse to go away, with suggestions the deal could be confirmed at Monza.

Raikkonen's interview with Martin Brundle at Schumacher's last race in Brazil was priceless....I was taking a sh1t :p

He hasn't really done much this year though and hardly looks like a man fighting for his seat...I suspect he may be willing to be bought out of his contract and head back to Finlald to do the occasional ice race & rally and get pissed on his boat.

Sounds like a plan :)

Maybe Kimi's excursion into WRC is more permanent than we thought.

If Alonso does go to Ferrari I think Massa can forget any ambitions of winning the WDC. Alonso will expect preferential treatment wherever he goes (and we've seen what happens when he doesn't get it) so Massa could be looking for another seat very soon.

Don't know about Alonso but I've heard within the finance industry that Santander are moving their sponsorship to Ferrari for next year so one part of the story is very credible.

And really, what are Renault doing to give any optimism for their future. Either them as a company or Briatore would drop F1 like a hot coal if it suited them, Briatore especially as his attempted coupe didn't really work out as he wanted.

I also think Alonso at Ferrari would be awesome and possibly salvation for both of them.

@Taz, to be accurate it was 'dump' not 'sh1t'.

Santander are as much a UK brand as a Spanish brand. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hamilton at Ferrari, not Alonso. Both at the same time would of course be unthinkable as Alonso couldn't hack it.

I've heard the same story from inside Santander about 6 months ago. It's a 100% done deal that they will sponsor Ferrari in 2010 and Alonso will be one of the drivers.

As for alonso to ferrari...unless they get rid of massa i cant see it happening and why would they dump massa? it would be interesting though.

If Ferrari want to win, they are going to need someone who can develop the car on the race track. Their driver lineup at the moment are not capable of that. Fernando is, he is expert at set up and developing a race car. A sponsor the size of Santander will want to be at the front of the field for their money. Briatore wont hold Fernando, i mean, who wants to race Hamilton for 15th positon on a Sunday afternoon at Silverstone. If Alonso goes to Ferrari, it may take a seasn to crank the car up to pole but no one will get in is way for the next four years...Hamilton fans wll be crying i know...I wont be... :) :) :)the Lawman
