Lewis was first last year in NOT the best car - look at his teammate back in 7th last year. And look at this year, with both the Brawns 1 and 2 - doesn't that er, like tell you something that they have the fastest cars followed by the Red Bulls. Last year, I'd say the Ferraris were the best cars, closely followed by the McLaren. Apart from his drive to the limit, adventurous, stupendous, daring style of driving, Lewis is also the nicest, most caring about his fans driver. That is why he has and always will have more fans than Button. True racing fans can see brilliance and ignore the media campaign against him and pro-bulbous Button.

There are plenty that stand out to me but the two that stand out the most are Button and Vettel. I am going to make a prediction for 2009, Barichello will win a race, so will Massa and Rosberg and also, Trulli and Glock will deliver a Toyota 1-2

The star of F1 is FOTA.. they have Max in a bind and soon to get rid of the dwarf is my next wish. Without FOTA we would be waiting for max and bernie to make all the rules and changes.

@Johnson

Im sure they should be able to do that is some way. Ive seen it done on other sites around the net easily enough.

I agree with some comments that he is a good driver, as he does have moments of brilliance. But this poll is about who do we think is doing a steller job so far this season. And most of the arguments that have been put forward for Lewis in these comments can also be used for alonso and massa (both of whome are fantastic drivers too in cars this season that have not performed as well as last year). But you dont hear people sining their praises as much though.

Its laughable that anyone with an ounce of common sence has been voting for hamilton this year. Somone has obviously been up all night refreshing and re-submitting for him. Button and vitel are the only real main contenders although webber and rosberg have also shown how good they can be too this year.

Fluffy,

When lewis can set up a car that doesnt **** its front wheel up in slow corners, then he will be classed as very good.
Right now he is good, nothing more nothing less.
Anyone feel free to have a pop

James posted: "are you seriously saying F1 had no fans before Lewis came along?" No, I'm not seriously saying that. Where did I say that?

And incidentally, the McLaren is one of the worst cars on the grid at the moment. It was proven to be slower around the fast corners at Silverstone than even the Force Indias. The only reason Lewis doesn't come last is because of how fabulous a driver he is.

James-Yea,absolutly agree,obviously in places such as Bahrain the McLaren wasn't the worst car by any means but in others like Silverstone it was.
The main thing that winds me up though is when Button fans say that he is far better than Hamilton,and it's just like,exactly what evidence have you got to support that.I mean,like I said Lewis already has more points than Button last year,Hamilton actually had competition in the form of 2 ferraris and a BMW last year,came 2nd in his rookie season then WDC in his 2nd,completly showed/shows his teammate up and makes the most of EVERY position he's put in.
Originally I wasn't opposed to Button becoming WDC but now I'd really rather RB/MW got it.:D

The new regulations this year have made the development rate even higher, which is why we are seeing some teams fast one race and slow the next. Look at Toyota for example, the locked out the front row in Bahrain, then a few races later at Monaco, they couldnt even get out of Q1! So Lewis hasnt had the worst car all year, but at the same time it hasnt been the best. By the way, dont get me wrong, Im not a Hamilton hater! I just dont see how he can be called the driver of the year : / Also I agree with you on MW, Id love to see him win some races this year and make a title bid! But as long as Button DOESN'T win it, ill be happy lol

And to Hannah, yes he has driven a few good races this year! As you said Australia was a good drive, taking out the whole lying scandal, and Bahrain was another good performance from Lewis! But you have to remember that the Mclaren hasnt been the worst car all season long, because all the teams have constantly been developing their cars. For example, if the Mclaren was as badly off the pace as it now when they were at Bahrain, theres no way Lewis would have finished so highly!
