The re-introduction of a private engine manufacturer was pretty important.

I've always sensed that having private teams buying engines off of manufacturers (i.e. Williams Toyota) often had negative side effects (e.g. Williams being forced to run Nakajima). I believe that in the past, some teams running Ferrari customer engines required the revs be turned down.

So it's not such a bad thing that Cosworth will have a pretty big foot in the door of F1 again. In an ideal world, all the engine manufacturers would be seperate to chassis builders.

Of course, as usual, the FIA's methods are questionable at best.

Not surpising.

Pure unadulterated favortism as i believe all three to be Cossie powered.

Can anyone tell if these Cosworth engines are going to rev limited or not?

Can you imagine Luca's or Norbert's face when the Cosworth powered teams sail past them on the straights next year?

Is it fair?

Now is the time for a two-tier system. ie, F1 division one and division two with promotion and relegation.
Let the new teams enter division two with a 2-up 2-down scenario. It would be fascinating toward the back end of the season and add a new dimension to our sport.
The £40 million cap would apply to div. two and they could use some of the marvellous cicuits which are currently ignored.

TYPICAL - so Prodrive, Lola etc never had a chance anyway!!!! So the criteria was set to be 'anti-FOTA...' In my opinion the teams that were not accepted have every right to take this to the court of appeal etc etc etc - yet another FIA 'male chicken'-up... :?

@ JMVEAL

I agree 100 percent. they only did so to guarantee cosworth had custom for 2010!!!!

How biased is that!

And a 2 tier system would never work, same teams going up and down and even smaller teams couldnt afford the 40 million pound budget cap. Plus with F1 doing the rounds, who would watch the cheaper option with worse drivers?
GP2 is doing this job already.....

@ Snail

There is already a multi-tier system in open wheel racing ... including GP2, WSR, F3, F2, F-BMW, F-Ford, etc ... all with varying rules & budgets.

Why have a tier system within a tier system?

Like thats a bad thing?
He can live with rosberg who is highly rated! And he is prone to the odd accident which keeps one amused.

This whole story of privateers is rubbish too.
I want the best of the best. Not some car knocked together in shed.
If thats what you like then fair enough, watch re-runs of the 50's 60's and 70's
And before you say there was more overtaking remember this:
People won races by 2-4 laps in those days.

The Crooks have been caught with their pants down, again.

What a sick world the FIA has created, lets all hope this becomes their undoing, they must never be allowed to forget it.
