Was Cosworth deal condition of 2010 F1 entry?

The re-introduction of a private engine manufacturer was pretty important.

I've always sensed that having private teams buying engines off of manufacturers (i.e. Williams Toyota) often had negative side effects (e.g. Williams being forced to run Nakajima). I believe that in the past, some teams running Ferrari customer engines required the revs be turned down.

So it's not such a bad thing that Cosworth will have a pretty big foot in the door of F1 again. In an ideal world, all the engine manufacturers would be seperate to chassis builders.

Of course, as usual, the FIA's methods are questionable at best.

All of which leads me to Charles Darwin.

Survival of the fittest.

Conditions cannot be artificially created to let a certain species(privateers) thrive, without irreversibly damaging/changing the world(f1 championship) around it. The Gains meeted by such actions, would be cancelled out and swiftly reversed when competition is introduced(FOTA breakaway)

The optimum, is for natural selection to run its course uninterfered.

Ohhhhh!!!! good isnt it!

If there was a record of all the irregularities that have taken place in just the last 18 months you would think F1 was on a suicide mission. How can the duo who are supposed to be in charge represent anything .They dont have a shred of decency between them. There has been corruption, dishonesty, political fighting ,sex scandal now anti German cries .Is there nothing left for them to try.
All we want is technologically advanced super cars to race .By this ,I mean not do a procession round some stupid track where you cant overtake .I hate to say it but I think F1 is losing its appeal.

Alex - a real news flash would be having The Crooks caught with their pants up! :D

The local paper published St Bernard's dictator adulation in the sports section which normally takes no notice of Formula 1. It wasn't well received. I guess they think Formula 1 is a chemical compound meant to enhance male potentcy or possibly a hair coloring compound.

Also agree with a recent Alex X response that the FIA is rotten to the core. A mere enema will not cure what ails the organization. FOTA - Show us that you care about the sport as a sport. Let's get on with the breakaway!!

Johnson - no, you are correct about Darwin. It's just that entities with social-engineering agendas do not appreciate those who inject Darwinian reality into the discussion. The entities can be discussion groups, companies, governments, or racing organizations. If Darwin was wrong, Williams would still be dominating F1.

btw - have been to Darwin a couple of times. Great place. Great people the Aussies - they firmly believe that lite beer is like sex in a canoe - Fooking Near Water. The GAFA tends to remind one of the insignificance of flea-like humans (see Darwin, survival of the fittest.)

@ yank

Lol Aussies tend to be less enthusiastic about Brits and South Africans. I must say there beer is sh1te too.......NOT RACIST (fluffy)

V.B is actually drinkable though.

Do Aussies like the yanks? It would be a first as I understand the Aussies thought themselves to be a superpower :) :) :) :)

Johnson - Most of the Aussies I've met seemed to like yanks well enough. I think it's probably a matter of the attitude of the visitor that sets the tone. V.B. is good. Don't think its brewed in accordance with the Reinhietsgebot (appoligise if I got the spelling wrong) cause I got a hell of a headache from drinking too many Greenies. :?

Aussies also love their racing. Australian Supercar is an exciting series.

Considering that the manufacturers were threatening the breakaway it was somewhat of an extraordinay situation. Why take a new team that may lose its engine supplier? If the teams were told ahead of time that they had to use Cosworth then that was the requirement. I think that once Cosworth has re-established its presence and there is no threat of a breakaway this requirement will be dropped.
