Dear Bernie

Here is a new word for your vocabulary. "Sustainability". In business, this means making sure you don't squeeze so much out of your suppliers that they can no longer afford to do business with you. It's especially important when you don't have an endless supply of alternative suppliers. Keep an eye out for times when your sustainabiliy might be slipping - say when the worlds largest auto maker can't afford to host your race at a track they already own, even when it's a race they participate in.

Have a mull over this, and next week I'll introduce you to the word "Ethical". Thats a bit harder.

Regards

Robsy

Yeah I agree, it's not looking good for the team. On the plus side the GP will now be staged at a proper drivers circuit full time - Suzuka!

Can't say I'm bothered about Fuji going, Suzuka is a waaay better track. As Rodriguez 917 said, a proper drivers circuit.
Looking like Toyota might be history as well. Makes you wonder how committed to the FOTA series they really were considering Howett was one of the FOTA ringleaders...

I suppose that's F1 off to another faceless circiut in some poverty stricken country where the locals can be exploited even more. Be as well hold an F1 race in Asda carpark. It would be just as exciting as some on the newer circuits like Valencia and Singapore and definately more exciting than Monaco. I guess Germany was going to pay Bernie more to have the race at the Hockenhiemring which to me isn't the Hockenhiemring. It's been ruined and is now just another circuit.

Robsy! That's one of the best comments i've seen for a long time!

What happens if Honda / Suzuka don't want the GP every year? Do we then go to another Herman Ti(T)lke circuit, with no crowds, atmosphere? Just because Bernie get's his money?

The teams complain about not being able to sustain F1 what about the circuits? When will they start to threaten F1 / FIA! :?

The fact of the matter is that tracks don't make any money hosting GPs. BE's business model doesn't allow it. BE doesn't let the promoters sell advertisements at the track nor do they share in the tv money. Selling tickets and sodas doesn't exactly pay for the huge fee to host the race. Notice that only governments mainly host races because it's out of reach for a promoter who's actually trying to make money. There will never be another race in the States as long as BE has his current model because no local or state and defintely not the federal government will pay for a freakin' race.

Good new Suzuka is back, bad news for F1 that circuits don't want to host races.

I still can't understand circuits paying Ecclestone to host an F1 race. It should be the other way around...

with all due respect, even though I am happy that Suzuka will host F1 for the foreseeable future but i would love to see other tracks in Japan hosting F1 alternating with Suzuka.

They got plenty of suitable tracks - Aida, Autopolis, Motegi... even I would love to see Sugo host a race. Care to see F1 cars go airborne on its straights?
