F1 » Hockenheim talks canned following Ecclestone Hitler comments

F1 commercial rights-holder Bernie Ecclestone's controversial comments praising Adolf Hitler could prove to be costly indeed for the future of the German GP, with a meeting to discuss Hockenheim's future subsequently cancelled.

Lovely bit of promotional work Bernie ! How could f1 survive without you ? Bet BMW and Mercedes are really impressed.

If Bernie wants to admire Hitler then that's fine, everyone in entitled to there opinion, no matter how twisted it is. But for someone in the public eye like Bernie to say it publicly, right before the German GP no less, well that's just dumb. Even for him. I wouldn't blame the Germans for being pi55ed of with him. The old coot needs to retire, now.

No real loss if this race is lost. The revamped Hockenheimring is crap compared with the original circuit.

i may be a bit stereotypical in what i'm about to say, but i would've expected max mosley rather than bernie to say something like that.
still wouldn't in any way justify the comments. bernie you are a F**KWIT.

I just don't know what's happening in F1 lately. I think they must all be sucking on too many exhaust fumes, 'cos they've all gone mad...MAD I tell ya. :-o

Excluding the offenciveness of what was said, what a very convenient situation for Hockenheim - they couldn't afford to keep the race, as has been known for some time, and now Bernie has given them the perfect excuse to pull out AND look like the injured party. A perfect bargaining chip for getting back on the calendar with more favourable terms. Not like Bernie to let slip something that could cost him money, he really must be losing his marbles!
