A proper little mess here then!!

I feel that the big teams needs to walk away NOW and start the process of setting up the new series. Yes next year may not happen as the fans would want it to but at this rate would the season be any good?

FIA getting the teams together in Paris, at no doubt considerable expense, to tell them you dont get a say in the regulations is a farse.

Enough storming out of meeting, actually take the step and break away, the fans want to see good racing and we are not getting this in F1, the number of overtakes on the track is still pityful despite changes to rules. I want good close racing F1 is more like a game of chess both on, and off, the track.

F1 » FOTA: FIA backtrack 'puts F1 in jeopardy'

After walking out of a cost-cutting meeting with the FIA, FOTA has accused the governing body of reneging on its earlier agreement and in so doing 'putting F1 in jeopardy' once more.

And the whole farce continues. Seriously, the teams are there to race not play politics. It's like the ruddy unions and the miners strikes, or more up-to-date, the bus driver strikes in Aberdeen. If you don't give us what we want, even though what we want is unsustainable, we'll sulk and go on strike. Get a grip FOTA. You're now as bad as the FIA. FOTA's whole thing seems to be "right lads, there's a pram, lets climb in and on the count of 3 ... 1, 2, 3, THROW" just 'cos there are not getting their way. Here's a new word for the FIA/FOTA to learn "negotiate". They have 3 days then I'll tell them about "compromise" and the the big finish, a two worder "the fans".

How will the FIA demonise FOTA now?

You cannot invite 8 teams to a table on rules discussion then tell them they have no say!

Its this draconian methodology FOTA and the fans(mostly) are sick of. FOTA should push on now and do this breakaway, F1 will die an excruciating death if this continues. In a bizzare way, the breakaway will save F1.

What about if you want to support the fans? FOTA and the FIA both need a good kick up the backside!

Um andrew, did you actually know the order of events?

FIA invited FOTA for 2010 rule proposals, FOTA being under the immpression they had a say, FIA shafted FOTA by saying "you cant have a say in it" unless you unconditionally sign up!!!!!

Talk about Dictatorial!

No wonder FOTA are seething..... The fans need to back FOTA. they are the ones that want to open up F1 and give fans more of a say. :) :)

Fota was set up with one primary aim.
To depose Max and Bernie.
It is the big car manufacturers and the oil companies who are behind it.
They want to spend as much as possible of the publics bail out money to win and do not want to upset their companies by recognizing the EV revolution that is happening in front of their noses.
The naive fans may fall for this but the world public will not. If they get their way F1 is finished.

Autogyro,

Your conspiracies hold no water with me.
Firstly the money manufaturers get are loans.
They are paid back with interest!

Secondly if they got no aid, over 500,000 people in western europe would be out of work. Making everyone worse off.

F1 was fantastic until the end of the 70s. Then the mess begun, with Chapman's twin suspension F1 being unlawfully banned, Ecclestone's vacuum Brabham-Alfa also banned, BMW using an illegal petrol to beat Renault in 1983, and then the compulsory pit stops leading to an absence of overtakings, the continuous change of the engines regulation ending with a kind of monotype engine series with maximum revs imposed, all this resulting in a decrease of the interest of the fans for the races, whereas more and more money was injected in F1 by car manufacturers and sponsors, in a completely nonsensical move from a once fabulous motorsport to a marketing tool totally disconnected from its fanbase. Sad!
