@richard...I'll take a guess.

They have heat exchangers in both pods, so could be they're sending the HX exhaust out the same body ports as engine exhaust. The high exhaust velocity might draw more flow through the HX's, something like a jet pump.

If they need more cooling capacity on one side than the other (additional HX, different sized HX on the left for packaging), the mass flow differs per side. If it does, they would likely size each port cross-section to bring the flows to the same exit velocity. The flow velocity would probably be more important than the mass flow since additional external flow around the body can make up for varying mass flow.

Just thinking out loud.

Lewis probably running light... look at the time of Heikki. I think that middle to back of grid is a more representative time for the McLarens

Great performance by lewis but as ever he gets the new floor, new wings, new mods, new this, new that!
Heikki got Jack

Team no 1 gets all new toys and heikki gets a pat on the back for his "efforts"

What would happen if this was vice versa?

Still take nothing away from the bloke. He was definatly the quickest through the veedol corners

@ JohnsonsEvilTwin - Lewis and Heikki were both running new parts, Heikki had the new front wing in FP1, Lewis had it in FP2. They also both chopped and changed floors between sessions obviously working as a team to get mileage on the new parts and comparisons with the older bits.
