100% correct! F1 needs to bring back the fun factor, when the drivers do anything like this, it doesn't fail to put a smile on our faces.

He has a good point, whenever I watch a Nascar race at the end the winner almost always performs a burn out in front of the fans, sometimes they climb the fence and throw gloves etc to the crowd, somersault out of the car. I am sure it would be great if they were allowed to do similar things.

I think the safety is a good thing as it allows the drivers to push the cars that bit more as they know if they crash, they should escape alive. Think of the hugh accidents there have been since safety was increased. Not one single death. The 2 worst that spring to mind were Schumacher 99 at Silverstone and Burti driving a Prost at Spa. Both escaped alive albiet with injuries but none were life threatening. Go back to Imola 94. 3 big crashes (Ratzenberger, Barrichello and Senna) - 2 deaths. Karl Wedlinger at Monaco 94 spent weeks in a coma. The safety is there for a reason and even though it may be a pain it's for his benefit. Is there no end to these bullsh1t soundbites?

F1 is a dazzling display of safety by playstation cars driven by characterless robots (though I do have a soft spot for Lewis). Watch a WSS or 250 MotoGP race, you'll be stunned! These are real men, really racing for a reasonable wage and not crying when they fall off.

If it's true that it is Bourdais last GP this weekend I bet he does a doughnut or two !! Thing is Torro Rosso won't have the nuts to tell him before the race - they'll probably just text him :(

I am not a huge fan of the post race burnouts and donuts. They can actually be pretty dangerous. I recall watching a motocycle race at Laguna Seca 20 odd years ago in which the winner stopped on the cool down lap and did a big burnout. Another rider still at speed crashed heavily into him. I believe the guy who stopped broke his leg and the other guy was in a coma. Completely unnecessary.

When the drivers used to stop to give a ride to another driver it seemed like it was just a matter of time until someone fell off a sidepod.

Maybe I'm just an old (twice LH's age,)purist, but when I see the stuff Hamilton's talking about in NASCAR, INDYCAR, et al, I always feel it's just a lot of amatuer "kid stuff" which keeps the drivers and the series from ever being considered seriously.
F1 has been generally free of the sophomoric self-congratulatory hijinx seen elsewhere. Let's keep it that way.
