you Hamilton haters are so pathetic,,did you actually listen to him being interviewed???? He said that the right hand side of the undertray was destroyed so they didnt get any valuable data from the race.If the car was undamaged then it would have been ok and he could have tested the new parts properly. You Hamilton haters just crawl back under your jealous rocks,,,you are a bunch of children

F1 » Hamilton criticises McLaren for engine and gearbox 'waste'

Defending F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton suggests McLaren-Mercedes would have done well to heed his advice of parking the car in the German Grand Prix - but he is enthusiastic about the reborn MP4-24's potential.

You never heard Jenson Button complain like this when he was bouncing around at the back with the poor cras he has had.

Am I the only know you knows that if there were no major problems with the engine or gear box they would not have got fresh ones, teams have to prove that the equipment is damaged and/or has expired.

Just be quiet and tootle around at the back!!!

Oh come on, that's hardly criticising the team, all he said is that he suggested saving the engine and gearbox, the team said no, and that was the end of that. Most of that quote is him praising the team anyway, he knows how much effort they've put into that car and he was the first to mention the huge improvements. :D

He's right but no doubt he will be criticised. Oh yes, he has been already. The irrational, spiteful haters are out in force, ready to pounce.

Why don't you criticise Button for moaning, or Rubens for his outburst or Webber for his hypocritical reckless driving?

A bit late with this story given that he said it in the interview after the race.

Anyway, he has a point but if McLaren saw value in keeping him out then so be it. I don't see what he would learn with the car being so damaged though and even if it had rained, he would never make the lap back.

I think if they didn't have new parts on the car to get some useful data on they would have called him in to save the engine/gearbox. However as the guy said on the radio there was still the possibility of rain, a swift pit at the right time could have got him back near the points, if not in the points. With hindsight you can say they that was the wrong decision. It's ultimately the fault of the rules with engines/gearboxes having to last multiple races. In the old days of never retiring a working car he would never have suggested it, makes you wonder how many more good cars have been retired over the last few years for no reason other than to save them for the next race.

he's completely right, even if it had rained he'd have no way of catching up unless he made a genius tire move and was way faster until others changed tires

but it's unlikely

for those who mentioned buttons crappy car, the situation is different, this mclaren is a decent car now, so why not park it and save it for hungary where they have a chance of scoring points?

When did he become such a quiter? There was a very good chance of rain and that could have changed everything. At this same race two years ago we lost what six or seven cars when the rain came? Besides this was the home race for Merc. I am sure that many of the Merc people came to see him race.

When they played his comment on Speedtv I was going to give him the benefit of doubt that he was not talking about stopping but that he wanted to drive conservatively. It is not the first time that he has been lapped but as far as I know it is the first time that he has wanted to stop because of it.

Mark, with the regulations and limited number of engines and gearbox being used for this season wasn't it better to save both than risk a penalty on the next race?

Surely with so many new parts just being bolt onto the car (and from what i heard on bbc1's coverage, some parts not even having any team colours or what not) I can totally see why mclaren kept him out. They need data to see how the parts function in a race and they also need to test their durability in a rae situation.

I can see why hamilton wanted to come in, but with so many new parts on his car he shoudl of known right away that that wasnt going to happen
