Quentin: Webber admitted he was at fault, saying he did not see Rubens. And both drivers in the Sutil incident said they thought it was a racing incident - neither blamed the other.

No one in the paddock believes there is currently a pro- Ferrari bias and Todt will anyway be neither a steward nor a race director. He will probably lean over backwards not to appear to favour his former team in those areas where he could.

Todt is a person of outstanding ability, just what the FIA needs. Ari is a nice man but there's probably a reason why he's no longer an MEP.

come on backing todt is like going from bad to worse as there is still bias for ferrari as it is look at the race on sunday two incidents were under investigation one sorted out while racing the other to be looked at after the race even though there was more than half the race left in my opinion neither incident deserved a penalty any way but doing it the way that it was done showed there is still bias

Given Mad Max's reputation now, you would hope this would be the kiss of death for any hopes Todt had of taking the role. But, given the nepotism, self serving nature and bias in the FIA, who knows who is lining whos pockets and why. The way Todt worked to promote the Ferrari bias within F1 with his negotiations for the special treatment arrangements, I think he would be a continuation of the corruption that seems to be the central to the FIA.

Ferrari already have too many "concessions" or "priviledges". Appointing Todt will be a PR disaster for the FIA in my view. Maybe not for the general armchair F1 viewer, but certainly for those who understand Ferraris' behind the scenes influence.

Why not Vatanen? The bloke was an MEP for 10 years for crying out loud.

Let's hear what some FIA people had to say about the earlier speculation, shall we?

Carlos Garcia, the Spanish FIA Representative and a member of the FIA World Council of Motor Sport:
"Unless Max has gone even more mad, I don't think he'll back Jean Todt because we all know where he comes from and who he's linked to."

So I guess Max hs gone even more mad. That'll make him Madder Max. Or is it Mad Max 2?
:D

@ Paddockman
all i was saying that both of the incidents should have been dealt with while the race was going on but were not and the incident with ferrari the stewards had more than enough time to sort it out not to say will be looked into after the race i dont believe there should be a penalty for either incident as much worse has been overlooked but both incidents should have been dealt with while racing was going on andand were not so in my opinion shows there is some bias still

Todt would be a DISASTROUS appointment. The FIA stable needs to be cleaned out and impartial (Todt loathes McLaren).

paddockman was totally correct. webbers incident was a very questionable incident, and it was wiser to wait until after the race. kimi took the racing line, sutil exited into the inside and washed wide. as it happens, neither side blamed the other, so it was wise to wait to hear the stories!!apart from that, whilst i think ari would be a good president, it should be remembered that todt has severed all ties with ferrari, and there is currently some ill will between them. many people change jobs but can easily divorce their previous employer from their decisions. it is the ferrari phobes who are making the most noise about todt. at least he would have more knowledge than mosley.
