It is difficult to remember when I have read quotes from an F1 driver containing so much complete garbage.
If Alonso, Renault and Ferrari cannot win under the same regulations as everyone else, perhaps they should open a string of ice cream parlors along the Spanish coast. Kers HAS made a big improvement to the car manufacturers road cars. Ferrari, BMW and Mercedes are all using the lessons learned from the technology. Just because they cannot make a system that works properly in F1 does not mean it cannot be done. Sour grapes and the inability to win without using far more money than anyone else. That is all it is.

F1 » Alonso slams 2009 as F1's 'worst year in history'

Fernando Alonso - never a man to keep his emotions under wrap - has let rip at the FIA and the damage he believes it is doing to F1 in its constant rule changes and stand-off with FOTA.

difficult to disagree with that then. FIA have made a balls of it with the constant rule changing, if you want to cut costs you do not keep changing the rules as each change is always expensive to implement. I want to see good racing and not weird hidden technology like kers that in reality has nothing to do with recovering energy.

Alonso making sense? Wow... Now for speaking out, 10 place grid drop anyone?

But he's true - the FIA/FOTA arguments have wrecked this seasons F1 Championship, which out on track has been one of the best in recent memories.

Renault could not make KERS work so now they and their whining driver rubbish it. Alonso should keep an eye on Lewis, particularly at the start (if he is close enough), then he will learn about KERS.

And, of course, Renault were not clever enough to think of the double diffuser, so of course they pretend it's against the rules.

Worse, Ross Brawn tried to get the FIA TWG to tighten the rules back in 2008 in a way that would have stopped the double diffuser. Guess who vetoed the change? Yes, it's Renault again (Pat Symonds).

Just for the record, KERS was proposed early in 2005 and the rule finalised in agreement with all the teams (including Renault, the dunces), back in December 2006.

funny how he's so outspoken on some issues while he remains deafeningly silent on others!

regarding the change in regs, changing regs doesn't make the racing 'worse' as all teams are building cars to the same regs and it's who interprets the rules the best and finds the better solutions who is successful.

sounds to me like a load of sour grapes because renault, like mclaren and ferrari, didn't do a good job of interpreting the new regs. as a result he's not winning anymore so he's moaning.
