His wife is pregnant?! Makes the whole thing even more devastating, how must she being feeling right now, terrified at the very least?! Even more reason for Felipe to come through all of this.
If I wasn't such a huge Hamilton fan, I'd say I wish Massa had won last year's WDC, who knows whether he'll race again if his eyes are not 100%.
Love to Felipe and his family, especially his wife. XXXXXXX :(

(Crash, we seriously need a sad faced smiley.)

Agreed Hannah. Felipe has a wife and a baby to think about. If, God willing, he gets through this maybe he should seriously consider retiring. God Bless you Felipe.

Must agree with Ross, accidents like this will always happen anyway. Motorsport will never be safe. What amazes me is the 'we must look into this' by other F1 folk - the most ridiculous thing to say when Renualt even failed to attach Alonso's wheel properly during his pit stop and not only did this cost Alonso a possible podium (if not race win) but we could have seen another Surtees death today after Alsono's wheel flew off afterwards. Talk about 'improving safety' in F1. Ridiculous. Just Ridiculous.

I honestly do not wish to be misinterpreted as safety must be number one and at all costs, but what BRAWN is saying is as usual well ballanced and masterful, the wheel, rim and tire unite and also the tire alone, tire getting of the rim,it's about time something be done about them as what is called the wheel tether only helps to hold the suspension unite to the car and not the wheel or the tire and we have seen these flying off the car from time to time, things that looks impossible to solve can be solved by proper research,a good example is the neck HENS devise.

We have seen wheels coming off cars many times,or wheels that cannot be taken off,I think most of the teams sufferd this problem some time, and dont forget that one can probably buy a road car for the cost of the wheel nut alone.

Renault have been suspended from the European GP due to 'numerous safety infringements' - namely letting Alonso leave the pit and then not telling him to stop.

Would that have happened if Massa wasn't in hospital ? Seemingly the knee-jerking has already begun.

Get well soon Felipe.

Really!! Renault suspended from the Euro F1 GP? Can someone confirm this. If true, that is an extreme reaction. FA is not the first person to limp back to pits with stuff droping off the car, plus how are his team to know what state his car is in before looking at it?
