He has no right to make the decision but c'mon - he's right. Gene is a better choice not only for results but ticket sales as well. But I'm not gonna bash Ferrari for letting Badoer have a go. They did crush him a few years ago by not letting him sub and he has stayed very loyal for a very long time.

RawDawg: "...but ticket sales as well"

Oh come on, your not telling me that a team should consider choosing its driver based on ticket sales?

"and he (LB) has stayed very loyal for a very long time"

Again, where is any evidence of loyalty? Working for Ferrari for 10 years is not the same as being loyal to Ferrari. It just means no-one else has made you a better offer.

Nothing but sour grapes! I bet if Renault hadn't been banned, allowing Alonso to race in Valencia, they wouldn't be so pissed! Just the fact that the only Spaniard racing in Valencia is a 19 year old rookie with no chance of troubling the front runners has got them annoyed. As I said, if Alonso was able to compete, I don't think they would have cared less about Badoer being chosen ahead of Gene. Besides Badoer deserves it more

The president has nothing to say about who to hire as a driver. Badoer might not be the youngest anymore, I think he deserves the chance for being that loyal to the team.

Gene might have won the Le Mans 24 hours, but you can't compare that to F1. Le Mans is an endurance race, where you don't go flat out all the time (and you share the car with two other drivers)

Maybe Ferrari knows that Alonso will be on track. I do not see that happening but who knows. How can the ruling be overturned when it involves safety. The council would be remiss if they send the wrong message to the teams.
